Arrest Made in Amir Locke Case
An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation that triggered the no-knock warrant that led to the death of 22-year-old Amir Locke in downtown Minneapolis last week.
The suspect is Locke's 17-year-old cousin Mekhi Speed...
The no-knock warrant was issued in connection with the homicide investigation into the murder of 38-year-old Otis Elder who was fatally shot on the 500 block of North Prior Avenue last month.
A Mercedes Benz that had been reported stolen and used in multiple armed robberies, including that of Otis Elder, had been linked to three separate apartments in the Bolero flats where the search warrants were executed. Amir Locke had been asleep in one of the apartments.
The suspect, Mekhi Camden Speed, was not in any of the apartments at the time.
Mekhi, who's fingerprints were found inside the Mercedes, was taken into custody in Winona Monday.
He is being tried as an adult.
